Overview
(June 16, 2020, Chicago) — Steptoe's Chicago office has been named to the Public Interest Law Initiative's (PILI) 2020 Pro Bono Recognition Roster. The Pro Bono Recognition Roster honors law firms and corporations that have made significant commitments and contributions to pro bono throughout the state of Illinois. Steptoe was recognized by Illinois Supreme Court Chief Justice Anne Burke during PILI's virtual pro bono reception on June 16.
Law firms named to the roster met at least two of the following criteria: an average of 35 pro bono hours per legal professional; a five percent increase in Illinois office pro bono hours from the previous year; pro bono participation by 60% or more of the firm's Illinois lawyers; participation in The Chicago Bar Foundation’s Law Firm Leadership Circle or signing one of PILI's Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee Pro Bono Pledges; and/or adoption of innovative steps to involve more legal department staff in pro bono work or to expand the firm’s pro bono program.
