Steptoe Secures "Top Defense Verdict" in California

The Los Angeles Daily Journal listed Hooper v. Chevron U.S.A. as one of the “Top Defense Verdicts of 2005.”  The Alameda County Superior Court jury found that Chevron’s products, which contained benzene, were defective.   However, the jury voted in a 9-3 judgment that although Chevron did not adequately warn of the risks posed by the thinners and solvents at issue, they did not cause the plaintiff’s non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
