Steptoe, a DC-based AmLaw 100 firm, is seeking a Legislative Assistant to join its DC government relations practice. Interested candidates must have a college degree, minimum of 2 years of related legislative or political experience (Capitol Hill experience preferred), and excellent research, writing and analytical skills. The successful candidate will assist members of Steptoe’s government affairs and public policy practice group, monitoring and analyzing legislative, regulatory, and political developments for a wide variety of clients. Day-to-day tasks will involve researching public policy issues, covering Congressional hearings, writing memos, arranging and coordinating meetings on the Hill, and attending some staff-level meetings on the Hill. Government Affairs Intern
Responsibilities include assisting the Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) practice group with the firm’s legislative, regulatory, and political law practices. The GAPP group works on a variety of issues before Congress, the administrative agencies, and the courts. Great opportunity for current college students with an interest in politics, government, and law to work in a professional yet collegial environment. The firm is looking to hire one college intern who would be tasked with a variety of research and writing assignments, and also observing and summarizing hearings on Capitol Hill. Strong writing and interpersonal skills are essential in this Legal Intern position. Opportunity to convert to full-time upon graduation. The internship will start in October and run through the end of the academic year. It requires a 10-20 hours a week commitment, with flexibility to coordinate with class and exam schedules. Patent Litigation Paralegal
Responsibilities include substantive duties in the patent area including, but not limited to, legal and factual research; assembling briefs, pleadings, and exhibits; retrieving prosecution histories from the PTO website and assembling them for attorney review; assisting attorneys with deposition preparation; conducting electronic and paper court filings; managing electronic and paper documents; and drafting discovery-related correspondence. Trial experience preferred but not required. 4 year college degree and at least 10 years of paralegal experience in specialty area required.
Palo Alto Office
Palo Alto office of International law firm seeking a full-time entry level paralegal to perform substantive duties in the Intellectual Property area. Responsibilities will include monitoring developments and assisting attorneys and paralegals by performing routine tasks such as filing court documents; filing, chronologizing, and organizing case files and papers; and maintaining case indices. Conduct online research and assist with document review in multiple litigation databases. Provide general support in all phases of the litigation process. Case Clerk (Part-Time):
Responsibilities will include assisting paralegals and attorneys with filing court documents; document collection, production, maintaining case files, creating indices, handling bates labeling projects, providing quality checks, drafting cover letters, updating and maintaining databases, deposition and trial preparation. Successful candidate will have strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, excellent attention to detail and outstanding oral and written communication skills and a desire to learn. Litigation experience a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Maximum 20 hours per week. Pay starts at $15 per hour with consideration for experience.
