Event Details
Our Third Annual Regulatory & Legislative Symposium will be offered as a hybrid event. Please indicate your preferred format (in-person or virtual) in the registration form.
"Progressive" has been one of the more frequently used adjectives (or nouns) in Washington this year. It was the progressive views, for example, that President Biden was said to be endorsing when he issued the Executive Order on Competition, which calls for more vigorous enforcement of the antitrust laws and directs or encourages more than a dozen federal agencies to implement specific new regulatory policies. What does this possible move to the progressive left mean for regulated businesses? Is it an unalloyed risk, or an amalgam of risks and opportunities?
At our plenary session, a group of distinguished policymakers from all walks of regulated life, including the Honorable Allison Clements (FERC) and the Honorable Patrick Fuchs (STB), will explore the question with us.
Following this broader discussion, we will narrow our focus by offering four breakout sessions, with each topic seen through the lens of our overall theme:
- The New Antitrust Agenda: Too Little, Too Late … or Too Much, Too Early?
- Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Issues: The Race to be More Progressive – Who Will Win? The US, UK, or EU?
- The Standoff Between Regulators and Courts: A Progressive Administration and a Conservative Judiciary
- Grid Modernization: Establishing Rules of the Road for Our Energy Future
More detailed information about these breakout sessions is included in the agenda.
