Overview
Steptoe partner Matthew Yeo appeared on CNC (China Xinhua News Network Corporation), a TV news network run by Xinhua News Agency, on January 4 to discuss the 15th anniversary of China’s accession to the WTO. Nearly 150 countries worldwide have recognized China's market economy status, but other members such as the United States, Japan and the EU are still delaying the recognition.
Mr. Yeo says, “I think the result should be, ultimately, that China is treated in the same manner as all other WTO members for purposes of calculating antidumping duties, which, in my view, was the original deal that China negotiated when it joined the WTO.”
