Steptoe partner Jason Weinstein was quoted in the Associated Press, Bloomberg, Fox News, and The Washington Post in articles discussing federal prosecutor Rod J. Rosenstein, who has been nominated to serve as deputy attorney general. If confirmed, Mr. Rosenstein would oversee the FBI’s investigation into Russian meddling in the presidential election, and any links between Russian officials and President Trump’s associates. On March 2, Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from any Russia-Trump investigation.
Mr. Weinstein, a former Justice Department official who worked with Mr. Rosenstein during the past two presidential administrations, tells The Washington Post: “I cannot imagine a more challenging environment in which to be the deputy attorney general than what we have now. And I cannot imagine a better person for the job at this time than Rod. He is not political at all. In every decision he makes — and I’ve seen him make some very difficult ones — the only question he really cares about is what is right and what is just.”
