NPR Interviews Michael Vatis on Megaupload Copyright Case

January 23, 2012

Steptoe partner Michael Vatis was a guest on a National Public Radio segment titled “Privacy Lawyers Process Megaupload Copyright Case.”  The show, aired on January 21, discussed the Justice Department’s massive copyright case against the file-sharing website Megaupload.com.  Mr. Vatis, founder of the FBI’s computer crimes investigation program, and other panelists addressed the complications of the case, due to the involvement of international criminals.

“I think the main limitation is resources," Mr. Vatis said. "These are complicated cases to investigate in large part because they involve international criminals and therefore require international cooperation with lots of law enforcement agencies around the world."

The radio segment is available on NPR.
