June 14, 2006

Ms. Ianniello, head of Steptoe's insurance practice, was re-elected to another three-year term on the Board of Governors of the DC Bar. She was first elected to the Board in 2003.

The DC Bar is the second largest unified bar association in the United States, with 81,000-plus member attorneys, representing 8 percent of all attorneys in the United States.

Over the last three years, Ms. Ianniello has been engaged in several important bar initiatives, including substantially revising the DC Rules of Professional Conduct, reviewing the bar's lawyer disciplinary system, and endeavoring to make it easier for indigent members of the community to receive legal services.  She also served on the board's Budget Committee and Governance Integration Advisory Committee. She was General Counsel to the DC Bar from 1998-2000.

Ms. Ianniello has a long history of public service work. In addition to her DC Bar service, she previously served as co-chair of the ABA Criminal Justice Section's Amicus Curiae Committee. In that capacity, she co-authored or supervised ABA briefs filed in the Supreme Court and appellate courts on subjects such as juvenile death penalty and sentencing guidelines.

She chaired Steptoe's Public Service Program for over seven years, and has been lead counsel on dozens of cases involving discrimination of all kinds, the Voting Rights Act, First Amendment issues, the rights of homeless people, and constitutional challenges to the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy. She has been a volunteer mediator in Superior Court and the DC district court, where she served for several years on the Committee on Pro Se Litigation.

A member of Steptoe' Executive Committee, Ms. Ianniello represents attorneys, directors and officers, and other insureds in professional liability, tort, RICO, and intellectual property actions, as well as insurance companies in complex litigation involving all types of insurance products. She regularly defends attorneys in disciplinary matters, and has broad experience in arbitrations and other ADR proceedings.  Ms. Ianniello is listed in the "Best Lawyers in America" and Euromoney's "Guide to the World's Leading Insurance and Reinsurance Lawyers."
