Overview
New York Steptoe partner Mike Miller was quoted throughout a Law360 article titled “Dewey Defense, DA Locked In Dead Heat One Month Into Trial.” The article, published June 19, discusses the “neck-and-neck contest” after the first month of the criminal trial of the onetime leaders of Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP.
Mr. Miller, a former prosecutor with the Manhattan district attorney’s office, tells Law360 while prosecutors are clearly well-prepared and have called a compelling parade of witnesses to tell the unprecedented tale of the demise of a major law firm, the executives’ legal team has also done a good job of pecking away at the government’s case.
He says: “In many respects, it boils down to who does a better job of taking months of testimony — some factual and more narrative, and some more dry in nature — who does the best job of weaving all of that evidence together, and make it accessible, understandable and persuasive. It seems to me this is going to be a horse race right down to the final summation of the trial.”
