(August 29, 2016, Washington, DC) — For the second time in five years, Steptoe & Johnson LLP’s Charley Mills has been named a Best Lawyers “Lawyer of the Year” in Washington, DC. In the just-announced 2017 edition of The Best Lawyers in America©, Mr. Mills is recognized as “Lawyer of the Year” in the Derivatives and Futures Law category. He previously received this recognition in the 2012 edition.
Best Lawyers is based on a peer-review survey in which nearly 83,000 lawyers globally are eligible to vote on the legal abilities of other lawyers based on their specific practice areas around the world. For the 2017 edition of the US guide, some 7.3 million votes were cast. Only a single lawyer in each practice area and designated metropolitan area is recognized as the “Lawyer of the Year.” The lawyers named as “Lawyers of the Year” have received particularly high ratings in this year’s survey by earning a high level of respect among their peers for their abilities, professionalism, and integrity.
