Overview
Steptoe’s 2016 election alert was the lede story in Politico’s Influence column on October 20. The alert, written by members of the firm’s Government Affairs & Public Policy Group, is the third in a series highlighting key public policy areas that will be affected by the upcoming election and explores the political ramifications of November 8 to the US Congress. In this installment, the authors looked at what a change in leadership may mean for healthcare policy, international trade policy, and international tax reform.
The alert was also mentioned in Politico’s Morning Tax column on October 21. Regarding the argument that there’s still a fair bit of obstacles facing any international tax reform next year, the editor writes, “Steptoe & Johnson — whose team includes Jason Abel, a former aide to Sen. Chuck Schumer, and Leslie Belcher, who’s close with Team Paul Ryan — are still talking up the idea’s potential.”
