May 18, 2006

(May 18, 2006, Phoenix, AZ)—The Arizona Senate has confirmed the reappointment of Nicholas J. Wallwork, a partner in Steptoe's Litigation Department, to the Arizona Water Quality Assurance Revolving Fund (WQARF) Advisory Board.  Mr. Wallwork, who was nominated to the board by Arizona governor Janet Napolitano, was also recently elected the board’s vice chairman.

The board oversees the operation and activities of the Water Quality Assurance Revolving Fund (WQARF) established by Arizona in 1986 to conduct remedial actions at state groundwater contamination sites.

“I look forward to continuing to serve on this important advisory body,” said Mr. Wallwork.  “Nothing is more essential to the future growth and development of Arizona than ensuring that our state’s investments in water and water quality are wisely made and managed.”

A graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law, Mr. Wallwork has broad experience in civil litigation focused on environmental, toxic tort, and insurance coverage disputes, as well as other commercial litigation.

Mr. Wallwork is a past president of the State Bar of Arizona and a member of the National Association of Bar Presidents.  He served two terms as a member of the Arizona Judicial Council, the administrative oversight body of the Arizona Court system chaired by the chief justices of the Arizona Supreme Court.

Mr. Wallwork is editor-in-chief of the Arizona Environmental Law Manual.  He also presents and publishes widely in other publications on a range of topics related to the environment, technology, and the practice of law.
