Steptoe Welcomes Partner Michael Heimbold to Century City Office
(August 24, 2006, Century City, CA) –Steptoe & Johnson LLP, a top international law firm, today announced Michael R. Heimbold has joined the firm’s new Century City office, as a partner in the litigation group, effective August 26th.
Mr. Heimbold was formerly a partner at Santa Monica-based Alschuler, Grossman, Stein & Kahan. He rejoins four of his former colleagues from Alschuler who transitioned to Steptoe’s litigation, IP and employment practices in July to launch its Century City operation.
“Michael is a seasoned lawyer, with a substantial trial experience involving cutting-edge technologies and complex matters,” said Roger Warin, Steptoe’s Chairman. “His practice already has a number of synergies with our firm’s client base and we are confident he will greatly enhance our litigation capabilities on the West Coast.”
Mr. Heimbold’s recent experience includes a wide range of business, intellectual property, entertainment, and employment litigation matters for individual and corporate clients. It extends to serving as counsel in state and federal courts in arbitration, mediation, bench trials and appellate matters, as well as numerous transactional matters.
His practice includes significant work for apparel manufacturers, international telecommunications and high-tech companies, motion picture production companies, real estate developers, construction companies, retailers, and corporate executives. Among the matters in which he is proficient are unfair competition and trade secret misappropriation, shareholder and partnership disputes, copyright and trademark infringement, employment—including class actions, real estate, breach of contract, business torts and product liability disputes.
“I am looking to the broader platform that Steptoe will provide for my practice,” said Mr. Heimbold. “In addition, I am delighted to be re-joining my former colleagues in launching the firm’s Century City office and helping in expanding the firm’s presence in California.”
Mr. Heimbold is a 1994 graduate of Loyola of Los Angeles Law School. Prior to entering law school he earned a B.S. in mechanical engineering from California State University Long Beach, and was an aerospace engineer for McDonnell Douglas Corporation.
A member of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers and the Litigation and Intellectual Property sections of the Los Angeles County Bar and the American Bar Association, Mr. Heimbold also serves on the Board of Directors of Los Angeles Team Mentoring, Inc.
