John Nolan Writes Korean War Memoir

October 2, 2006

Noted attorney John Nolan has written an account of his experiences in the Korean War.

In The Run-Up to the Punch Bowl: A Memoir of the Korean War, 1951, he narrates his experience as a Marine rifle platoon leader in Korea in the war's pivotal year—as well as the experiences of other Marine lieutenants fighting through the fog-shrouded mountains of the East-Central front. These lieutenants' heroism in combat marked some of the top battles.

His account describes the year of fighting when the last Chinese offensive was stopped and the UN forces slugged their way back over the 38th parallel to the final—and today's—line.
