Kevin Mayer, Jeff McFadden, Ana Voss Receive Burton Award for Legal Achievement

April 26, 2006

Kevin Mayer, Jeffrey McFadden, and Ana Elizabeth Holmes Voss have been awarded the 2006 Burton Award for their article, "Debunking the Expansion of Defendants Theory," originally published in the Defense Research Institute's monthly magazine, For the Defense. The article discusses two expansive notions of tort liability: duty and vicarious liability. Two factors drive these trends: one legal, the other economic.

This year marks the eighth anniversary for the national program, the Burton Awards for National Achievement , which is run in association with the Library of Congress and its Law Library.  The awards program is a nonprofit 503 (c)(3) effort devoted to enhancing and refining legal writing, as well as promoting the legal profession.

Since its inception in 1999, the program has expanded rapidly and now honors 30 partners or counsels from the nation's top 750 law firms for their writing talents.
