(December 10, 2007, New York, NY)—Lenor C. Marquis, an associate in the Litigation Department of the New York office of the international law firm Steptoe & Johnson LLP was selected as the 2007 winner of the New York Law Journal’s prestigious fiction contest.

The New York Law Journal invited attorneys to tap into their creative sides, and after reviewing numerous manuscripts, they selected Ms. Marquis as the winner for her story, Sue Generous, about an immigration attorney who is having a horrible day.  Ms. Marquis’ winning story will also be published in the December issue of New York Law magazine. This is the seventh annual fiction contest for the Journal and has become an annual tradition for attorneys with a literary focus.

"It is an honor to receive this award and to be recognized by the Law Journal," said Ms. Marquis. "Writing fiction is a rewarding hobby, and I am pleased that others enjoyed reading the story as much as I enjoyed writing it."

Ms. Marquis received her J.D. in 2002 cum laude from New York University School of Law, and her B.S. in 1998 from Cornell University.  She is also on the Board of Directors of Project FAIR, a collaborative, New York City-based project working towards greater economic justice for low-income and homeless New Yorkers.
