Antitrust Group Involved in Verizon/MCI Merger

February 3, 2006

Steptoe’s Antitrust group was MCI's lead antitrust counsel in connection with its $8 billion merger with Verizon.  We also advised the company concerning competition law clearance from the European Commission, as well as regulatory clearances from the Federal Communications Commission and two dozen state regulatory commissions.  The deal recently closed after the US Department of Justice cleared it with a limited divestiture of assets.

The Steptoe team included Tony Epstein, Alfred Mamlet, Bob Fleishman, Doug Hilleboe, Daniel Mah, Brendan Kasper, Erica Mueller , and Keith Decker.
