John Nolan Receives Segal-Tweed Founders Award

February 2, 2006

As reported in the DC Bar's February 2006 Legal Beat, senior partner John Nolan received the Segal-Tweed Founders Award, given by the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights under Law to a Lawyers' Committee member who has displayed leadership and service in the cause of equal justice under the law.

Perhaps best known for his role in negotiating the release of Cuban prisoners captured at the Bay of Pigs during the Kennedy administration, Nolan served as the executive assistant to Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy. He has argued several cases before the US Supreme Court and various courts of appeals, and currently serves as a mediator for the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit.

Since Nolan was unable to attend the event, Steven Brose accepted on his behalf, saying that equal justice is "a fundamental part of what [Nolan] is about."
