National Law Journal Ranks Brian Heberlig Among Washington's 40 Rising Stars

The National Law Journal's Legal Times selected Brian Heberlig as one of the top “40 Under 40," a list of Washington's rising legal stars. Finalists are selected by the editors and based on nominations and reporting. Those selected "have already made their marks in private practice, in government agencies, on Capitol Hill and with public interest groups."

"High-profile defendants in trouble know that having Brian Heberlig on their side is a smart move," the article said. He was recognized for his work in representing high-profile clients in white-collar criminal defense cases alongside "well-known defender" Reid Weingarten. The article mentioned a number of the high-profile clients Steptoe has represented, including Bernard Ebbers of WorldCom Inc., Mark Belnick of Tyco International Ltd., Indiana Rep. Pete Visclosky, and Former Secretary of Agriculture Mike Espy, and notes that Heberlig is currently defending a DOJ prosecutor being investigated in connection with the prosecution of former US Senator Ted Stevens.
