Brussels office recruits Dr. Anna Gergely to lead expanding environment, REACH & nanotechnology practice

Steptoe & Johnson LLP is delighted to announce that Dr Anna Gergely, in a role equivalent to partner, has joined the Brussels office as Director EHS Regulatory and Principal Scientist. Anna has a PhD in analytical chemistry and  quantum chemistry and is registered as a European patent attorney. She brings more than fifteen years of international law firm experience in Brussels, counseling companies on European environment, health and safety regulatory strategies.

In addition to REACH and food contact compliance, Anna specializes in nanotechnologies as related to a broad spectrum of industrial sectors. Her involvement in this field ranges from scientific and patent considerations to issues of corporate regulatory compliance and regulatory governance. As nanotechnology grows in importance, Anna’s scientific and patent qualifications enable her to work with both the regulatory team and the firm’s strong IP practice in Europe and in the US. Anna has been appointed to the Scientific and Technical Council of the International Risk Governance Council, an independent organisation whose purpose is to help the understanding and management of emerging global risks that have impacts on human health and safety, the environment, the economy and society at large.

Anna enhances Steptoe’s well-established legal and regulatory practices in areas which include chemicals, agri-biotechnology, biocides, food and feed, medical devices and a range of consumer and industrial products.  Our practice serves clients located around the globe, including, India, Russia, China, Korea and Brazil. Important clients include trade associations in both Washington and Brussels.
