J. Bennett Johnston to Participate in Strategic Forum for a US – China Clean Energy Partnership

Former Senator J. Bennett Johnston will participate in a Strategic Forum for a US – China Clean Energy Partnership October 21 to October 23, 2009 in Beijing, China. The Forum is being sponsored by the Brookings Institution of Washington, DC and the China Institute of Strategy and Management of Beijing, China.

Senator Johnston will join an exclusive gathering of top-level policymakers, researchers and business executives from the United States and China. The agenda will include meetings on overall energy strategy and US – China cooperation, and will facilitate detailed discussions on clean energy priorities in areas such as carbon capture and sequestration, renewables like wind and solar power, and electric vehicles.

This Forum is closely connected to the elaboration of a US – China Clean Energy and Climate Change Partnership, to preparations for the US – China summit meeting between Presidents Obama and Hu in Beijing, and to the critical climate change talks that will take place in Copenhagen in December.
