Civil Rights Lawsuit Makes Arizona Headlines
January 6, 2010Steptoe partner David Bodney’s recent deposition of an Arizona sheriff made headlines and was a top story in a number of Phoenix publications. Mr. Bodney filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio on behalf of a family that was detained by deputies during the highly publicized illegal immigration sweeps by the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office in 2007. During a recent seven–hour deposition, the sheriff was questioned regarding racial profiling accusations and other practices.
