International Trade Reporter Quotes Meredith Rathbone on Ambiguous Aspects of Comprehensive Iran Sanctions Law

July 16, 2010

The International Trade Reporter profiled Meredith Rathbone’s presentation on new and ambiguous aspects of the Comprehensive Iran Sanctions, Accountability, and Divestment Act during a teleconference sponsored by the ABA Section of International Law.

Meredith commented on many new aspects in the law. For example, she said that, "For a parent to be sanctioned, the firm simply must have known or should known of the subsidiary's activities. Foreign affiliates with no ownership interest or control must themselves knowingly engage in the activities resulting in the sanctions."

Dan Chapman of Parker Drilling in Canada served as a co-panelist.
