Sara Beth Watson Speaks at Energy Security Conference

February 19, 2004

On February 19-20, 2004, in Houston, Texas, Cynthia Quarterman, partner in the Energy & Natural Resources group, is co-chairing the Institute for Energy Law’s 55th Annual Program on Oil and Gas Law: Fostering Energy Security in the Oil, Gas & Power Industries.

Energy security and the surrounding legal issues have gained worldwide attention, and energy lawyers strive to meet challenges such as demands for higher corporate standards, reliable supply and predictable markets, environmental compliance and enforcement standards, and mastery of new practice areas (post-power outage, new regimes in oil-producing countries, and problems associated with revival of liquefied natural gas (LNG) usage).

Sara Beth Watson, of counsel in Steptoe’s Washington office, will speak on “State of the Art of Negotiating Environmental Issues in Energy Purchase and Sale Agreements.”  Other speakers address a wide range of topics, including litigation, power/energy marketing and trading, environmental, international and federal, onshore & offshore oil and gas issues.

Steptoe is co-hosting the Deans of Oil & Gas Practice Lecture, given this year by Charles Matthews, General Counsel of ExxonMobil.
