March 28, 2006

Steptoe partner Steven K. Davidson will speak at the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) International Commercial Dispute Resolution Conference on March 28, 2006.

Mr. Davidson will participate in a panel discussion on the types of damages that are commonly sought in international arbitration.  This panel will discuss the types of damages that are commonly sought in international arbitration and offer insights on claims for direct and indirect damages, liquidated damages and penalties, and specific performance as an alternative remedy.  The panel will also evaluate the different types of costs that may be sought in international arbitration.

Steptoe and the ICC will also co-host a Sunday evening cocktail reception at the Calhoun Mansion, private residence of Howard H. Stahl, another Steptoe partner.  The Calhoun Mansion, a baronial Italianate manor house built in 1876 by George W. Williams, is widely acclaimed as one of the greatest post-Civil War houses on the Eastern Seaboard.  The largest single family residence in Charleston and widely hailed as the jewel in the crown of Charleston’s celebrated historic structures, the mansion has been brought back to the standard Williams first created by Mr. Stahl.
