Karl M. Tilleman is the managing partner of the Phoenix office of Steptoe & Johnson LLP.  As a partner in the Commercial Litigation Group, his practice focuses on litigating antitrust, intellectual property, RICO, insurance coverage and bad faith, construction, and environmental disputes. His clients include leaders in the insurance, health care, money transmitter, and entertainment industries.

Representative Matters

Recent and Current Matters:

  • Representing the University of Southern California and Urban Partners in a multi-million dollar antitrust and RICO lawsuit in Federal Court in Los Angeles, California.
  • Lead trial counsel for the Harlem Globetrotters in an intellectual property action brought in Federal Court by Meadowlark Lemon, Curly Neal, and other former Globetrotter superstars.
  • Representing Western Union in a subpoena enforcement action versus the State of Arizona.
  • Representing Allstate, AIG, Travelers, and other major insurance carriers in complex coverage and bad-faith actions.
  • Representing UnitedHealth Group entities in administrative and judicial actions involving various health care disputes.
  • Represented the City of Peoria in an alleged multi-million dollar toxic tort wrongful death action.
