George R. Calhoun V is of counsel in the Washington office of Steptoe & Johnson LLP, where he is a member of the firm’s Litigation Department.
Bankruptcy and Debtor/Creditor Practice
Mr. Calhoun is an active member of the firm's bankruptcy and debtor/creditor practices. His practice primarily involves the representation of creditors, debtors and other interested parties in all aspects of Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. Mr. Calhoun regularly advises clients on specialized bankruptcy issues such as the intricacies of asbestos trusts and the protection of utility suppliers. In addition to his bankruptcy litigation practice, Mr. Calhoun regularly consults with clients concerning the implications of bankruptcy on transactions and settlements.
Commercial Litigation
Mr. Calhoun also practices in the firm’s commercial litigation group and has represented plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of diverse, complex commercial disputes, including contract claims, employment matters, and real property disputes.
