George R. Calhoun, V is of counsel in the Washington office of Steptoe & Johnson LLP, where he is a member of the firm’s Litigation Department and practices in the Commercial Litigation, Insolvency & Creditors’ Rights Group. 

Mr. Calhoun regularly appears before state courts, federal courts, and arbitration panels.  His practice includes the litigation and resolution of complex breach of contract actions, fraud and fiduciary duty claims, partnership disputes, and insurance coverage matters. 

Mr. Calhoun also regularly represents creditors, debtors, insurers and other interested parties in all aspects of bankruptcy proceedings, including the purchase and sale of assets through bankruptcy, Chapter 11 plan confirmation issues, and bankruptcy-specific insurance issues.  He has represented a number of insurers in mass tort driven bankruptcies and related coverage issues.  In addition to his bankruptcy litigation practice, Mr. Calhoun also advises clients concerning the implications of bankruptcy on transactions, settlements, and non-bankruptcy litigation.
