Jody A. Cummings is special counsel in the Washington office of Steptoe & Johnson LLP, where he is a member of the Regulatory & Industry Affairs Department.

Mr. Cummings has a wide ranging practice on natural resource and environmental issues and other matters before the Department of the Interior.  He represents clients on matters relating to land exchanges, forestry, natural resources damages claims, climate change initiatives, and natural resource development.

He also advises clients and litigates on various aspects of federal Indian law, including gaming, tribal recognition, religious freedoms, and environmental concerns. 

Mr. Cummings was an active member in the Columbia Human Rights Law Review and President of the Native American Law Students Association. He is also an enrolled member of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina.
