Ying Huang is a foreign law consultant in the Washington office of Steptoe & Johnson LLP, where she is a member of the International Department. Ms. Huang’s practice focuses primarily on international trade and foreign direct investment.
Ms. Huang draws upon years of experience practicing law in China and advising foreign law firms and clients to provide Steptoe’s clients with legal advice and insight that bridges US-China cultural and legal differences. She has played an important role in helping to open the Chinese market to US companies, coordinating with and advocating before relevant government agencies on behalf of clients, and advising on both US and Chinese regulatory issues, including on US export controls specifically with respect to China and on Chinese regulatory compliance with respect to US companies.
Prior to joining Steptoe, Ms. Huang served as Senior Legal Counsel to the Shanghai office of a foreign law firm, Legal Manager of a trading company, and practiced law in one of the first private law firms in Jiangsu Province, China. Her experience in the Chinese private sector, both as inside and outside counsel, involved advising multinational corporations investing in China facing a variety of issues, on Chinese legal aspects of import-export transactions, antidumping matters, and regulations encouraging and affecting foreign investment in China.
