She focuses primarily on US economic sanctions, export compliance, and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act advice, and also has experience with antidumping and countervailing duty litigation.

International Regulation and Compliance
Ms. MacMichael provides compliance advice to clients regarding US economic sanctions and US controls on exports of dual-use and defense items. She has handled the internal review and resolution of various export control matters and assisted clients with a range of export licensing issues and enforcement actions, including deemed export compliance, regulatory requirements for offshore affiliates of US companies, and joint venture or supply arrangements with non-US entities that have independent business relationships with restricted countries.

Ms. MacMichael also advises clients on the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and local laws dealing with anti-corruption, the payment of commissions abroad, and offset requirements. She assists multinational corporations in developing guidelines for marketing support, entertainment, and agency relationships in foreign jurisdictions to ensure compliance with both the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and local law.

Antidumping and Countervailing Duty Proceedings
Ms. MacMichael has experience representing both petitioners and respondents in antidumping and countervailing duty proceedings before the Department of Commerce and the International Trade Commission. She has been involved in appeals of these agencies’ determinations to the Court of International Trade and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.  She has also advised clients on WTO issues relating to import regulation.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. MacMichael, who speaks Russian, assisted in the negotiation of several natural resource exploration and development projects in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
