Rachel M. Hofstatter is an associate in the Washington office of Steptoe & Johnson LLP, where she is a member of the Intellectual Property group and Litigation Department.
Ms. Hofstatter's practice focuses primarily on the acquisition, protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights. She has represented clients from various industries in intellectual property litigation in federal court, at the US Patent and Trademark Office, and at the National Arbitration Forum. Her litigation experience includes the prosecution and defense of trademark, trade dress, copyright and patent infringements, unfair competition, domain name, trademark oppositions, and false advertising claims. Ms. Hofstatter also prosecutes trademark applications for registration in the United States and coordinates international registration, provides clients with analysis of conflicting marks, drafts licenses of intellectual property rights, and counsels clients on various trademark and copyright issues.
While in law school Ms. Hofstatter was a consumer mediator at the George Washington University Law School Consumer Mediation Clinic. As a mediator, she served as a neutral third party to help consumers and companies agree to resolve their disputes in an agreeable manner. Ms. Hofstatter also worked as a peer writing tutor at Penn State University’s Writing Center.
