Patrick S. Menasco is of counsel with the Washington office of Steptoe & Johnson LLP, where he is a member of the firm’s Tax group and Litigation Department, focusing on employee benefits.

Mr. Menasco’s practice concentrates on employee benefit matters involving the financial services and securities industries and the administration and operation of single and multiemployer plans.  He advises clients respecting fiduciary liability, prohibited transactions, plan qualification issues, and plan termination insurance.  A significant part of Mr. Menasco’s practice involves advising clients on the structuring of financial services and investment products to comply with ERISA’s prohibited transaction provisions.  Mr. Menasco has represented clients before the United States Department of Labor and the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, as well as before the United States District Courts and the United States Courts of Appeal.

From 1995 to 1998, Mr. Menasco served as an attorney in the Office of the General Counsel of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation.  Prior to joining the government, he clerked for the Honorable Gerrilyn G. Brill in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.
