Gretchen P. Miller is an associate in the Washington office of Steptoe & Johnson LLP, where she is a member of the Intellectual Property group. Ms. Miller's practice focuses primarily on intellectual property litigation, patent prosecution, patentability, infringement, and product clearance investigations.
Ms. Miller's experience includes litigation in the federal courts and actions arising under Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930 before the US International Trade Commission.
As an undergraduate, Ms. Miller was involved in clinical research at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where she studied the effects of beta-blockers and prostaglandin analogues on patients with ocular hypertension. She also performed independent research projects on intraocular lens implants and tissue engineering as a teaching assistant at the Johns Hopkins Department of Materials Science & Engineering. During her graduate studies at Georgetown, she studied NFk B as a mechanistic link between inflammation and tumorigenesis. She also gave presentations on pharmacogenomics, single nucleotide polymorphisms, and molecular beacon probe technology.
Prior to joining Steptoe, Ms. Miller worked at the American Red Cross Office of Patents and Licensing, where she investigated licensing opportunities for a biomedical patent portfolio and helped to draft license agreements.
