Fredric D. Bellamy is a partner in the Phoenix office of Steptoe & Johnson LLP, where he is a member of the Litigation and Regulatory & Industry Affairs Departments as well as the Intellectual Property group.

With over twenty years of experience in civil litigation, Mr. Bellamy's experience includes a broad range of complex commercial litigation, particularly in matters involving complex scientific or technical issues. These matters include environmental and toxic tort litigation, as well as litigation involving allegations of securities and real estate fraud. Mr. Bellamy has been involved in litigation involving disputes between major mining companies, and most recently has been involved as co-counsel in litigation relating to one of the largest groundwater contamination sites in Arizona.

Mr. Bellamy has also handled matters relating to environmental citations against a major oil company, underground storage tank-related liabilities of a major international soft drink manufacturer, potential environmental issues relating to the purchase of a new store site for one of the nation's largest supermarket chains, toxic tort issues as local counsel for a major national airline, defended against alleged environmental liabilities on behalf of one of the nation's largest commercial construction companies, and represented a major local shopping center developer in administrative and court matters relating to environmental contamination caused by a former tenant.

Mr. Bellamy's experience with cases involving complex issues includes multi-district and multiple-jurisdiction litigation matters and class actions, and in addition to Arizona matters, he has litigated matters in federal and state courts in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, and other locations.

Mr. Bellamy has been recognized by a number of organizations including Best Lawyers in America 2008, Information Technology Law; Chambers USA 2007, Environment (Arizona); and Southwest Super Lawyers 2007, Intellectual Property Litigation. In 2007, he also received the prestigious Burton Award for Legal Achievement. He is a former chair of the State Bar of Arizona Intellectual Property Section and the E-Commerce, Internet & Technology Law Section.

With a background in psychology and social relations, Mr. Bellamy has worked closely in appropriate cases with jury-consulting firms in evaluating potential trial strategies. In addition, he has experience with various forms of alternative dispute resolution, including successfully resolving complex matters through mediation.
