Fredric D. Bellamy is a partner in the Phoenix office of Steptoe & Johnson LLP, where he is a member of the Intellectual Property group as well as the Litigation and Regulatory & Industry Affairs Departments.
With over twenty years of experience in civil litigation, Mr. Bellamy has been involved in a variety of cases involving scientific and technological issues. His practice includes litigation of intellectual property and technology-related matters, including anti-piracy suits; trademark infringement and unfair competition actions; misappropriation of trade secrets; covenants not to compete and employee raiding actions; Internet- and e-commerce-related litigation; and issues relating to violations of federal communications laws. He also counsels clients on intellectual property protection issues, with clients ranging from start-up businesses to one of the nation's busiest major airports.
Mr. Bellamy has been recognized by a number of organizations including Best Lawyers in America 2008, Information Technology Law; Chambers USA 2007, Environment (Arizona); and Southwest Super Lawyers 2007, Intellectual Property Litigation. In 2007, he also received the prestigious Burton Award for Legal Achievement. He is a former chair of the State Bar of Arizona Intellectual Property Section and the E-Commerce, Internet & Technology Law Section.
A 1986 graduate of Harvard Law School, Mr. Bellamy frequently speaks and writes about technology and science-related legal issues.
With a background in psychology and social relations, Mr. Bellamy has worked closely in appropriate cases with jury-consulting firms in evaluating potential trial strategies. In addition, he has experience with various forms of alternative dispute resolution, including successfully resolving intellectual property matters through mediation.
