Peilin Tan-Aquino is a patent agent in the Washington office of Steptoe & Johnson LLP, where she is a member of the Intellectual Property group. She holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from Mount Sinai School of Medicine of New York University.

Dr. Tan-Aquino assists with the drafting and prosecuting of patent applications in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemical, and medical device fields. She also assists with patentability, infringement, and product clearance investigations.

She was a Jane Coffin Childs postdoctoral fellow at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where her research involved utilizing RNAi techniques and novel genetic approaches to uncover targets for therapeutic intervention in the treatment of cancer. Her doctoral research focused on the identification and biochemical characterization of a novel subunit of an E3 ubiquitin ligase complex. In addition, Dr. Tan-Aquino has had extensive research experiences at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, University of Pennsylvania, and Mount Holyoke College.

Dr. Tan-Aquino has published articles in Molecular Cell, Molecular and Cellular Biology, and the Journal of Biological Chemistry.
