Michael Thompson is a partner in the London office of Steptoe & Johnson and is head of the Corporate, Securities and Finance group.

Michael's focus is on entrepreneurial businesses.  He specialises in all aspects of private equity transactions including venture capital fundings, management buy-outs, management buy-ins, investor buy-ins, acquisitions and disposals, joint ventures, shareholder arrangements and public company listings.

Michael's experience is spread across many sectors and includes acting for both management, target companies and venture capitalists in the technology, telecoms, gaming, IT, retail and leisure sectors.

Michael graduated in law from Southampton University and gained an LL.M. in 1988 from the London School of Economics.  Michael joined the firm in 1998.
