Gurinda Sandhu is an Associate in the London office of Steptoe & Johnson and a member of the Technology/Telecoms Group.  Prior to joining Steptoe & Johnson, Gurinda worked in the group legal department of one of the world’s largest mobile telecommunications companies and within the IT/Communications team of a leading international technology law firm in London.

Telecommunications
Gurinda has experience of advising on regulatory and commercial telecommunications matters. In this area, her experience includes drafting and negotiating global framework agreements with fixed and mobile telecommunications service providers, handset device suppliers and multi-national corporate customers and advising on mobile content development and distribution arrangements.  Her experience also includes advising on the regulatory issues of launching new telecommunications services in the U.K. and assisting telecommunication companies with regulatory matters involving Ofcom.

IT/Technology
Gurinda advises domestic and international technology companies on a wide range of commercial, regulatory and transactional matters. She has advised on strategic collaboration agreements with leading global IT/technology companies and she has extensive experience of drafting, negotiating and advising on high-value, cross-border agreements involving technology development and licensing, IT outsourcing and software development, maintenance and hosting arrangements.

Her experience also includes advising on a wide range of commercial agreements including R&D collaboration arrangements, cross-border sales, marketing and distribution agreements, licensing arrangements, master services agreements, agency agreements, consultancy agreements and standard terms and conditions.

Electronic Commerce/Intellectual Property
Gurinda has advised clients on the full range of legal issues faced by online businesses, including website terms and conditions, privacy policies, information security, consumer protection and other legal implications of electronic commerce. She has also advised on legal issues of co-branding products, trade mark licensing, IPR development, copyright and database rights.

She has assisted clients in devising practical and strategic solutions that meet global data protection compliance requirements. Gurinda’s experience includes assisting clients by developing privacy policies and compliance programs, drafting international data transfer agreements, conducting data protection compliance audits and advising on employee and customer privacy issues.
