Edmund Burke has rejoined the Washington office of Steptoe & Johnson LLP as a partner after having served as Executive Vice President of Law and Government Affairs for Burlington Northern Railroad. In this capacity, Mr. Burke had extensive experience as general counsel, where his responsibilities included supervision of the railroad law department, lobbying operations, internal audit function, corporate secretary's office, as well as risk management and facilities management. He joined the railroad in 1984, having previously been a partner and associate at Steptoe & Johnson since 1973. While there, Mr. Burke worked in the area of general litigation, handling matters involving antitrust, energy issues, employment law, and white collar crime.
Mr. Burke is a member of the District of Columbia and Texas Bars and the Bars of the United States Supreme Court and various federal district and appellate courts.
