Stanley A. Schlitter is a partner in the Chicago office of Steptoe & Johnson LLP, where he is a member of the Intellectual Property practice group. Mr. Schlitter’s practice primarily focuses on the areas of intellectual property litigation, counseling, and transactions. Mr. Schlitter is AV Peer Review Rated, Martindale-Hubbell’s highest peer recognition for ethical standards and legal ability.   

Mr. Schlitter currently represents or recently has represented clients in patent infringement suits in federal courts and at the International Trade Commission involving liquid crystal displays, semiconductor devices, electronic circuitry, an electronic exchange operating on the Internet, writable DVDs, computers, DRAMs, refrigerator shelves, and agricultural equipment, among other technologies. In non-patent litigation, he has represented clients in matters involving trademark infringement and unfair competition, trade secret misappropriation, breach of contract, and involving power plant circuit protection and nuclear power plant technology, in addition to other matters and technologies.

Mr. Schlitter counsels clients regarding patents for a wide range of products and technologies, including semiconductor devices, electronics, computer hardware and software, e-commerce business methods, electrical and mechanical equipment, and manufacturing machinery. In addition, he maintains a transactional practice that includes the transfer and licensing of intellectual property, including in connection with corporate acquisitions.

Prior to attending law school, for two years Mr. Schlitter was an electrical engineer at Boeing Aerospace Co. in Seattle, Washington.
