William Z. Nakhleh is an associate in the Washington office of Steptoe & Johnson LLP, where he is a member of the Intellectual Property group. Mr. Nakhleh’s practice includes litigation counseling regarding intellectual property matters.

Mr. Nakhleh concentrates on patent litigation involving pharmaceuticals and chemicals. He is experienced in all phases of litigation, including pre-suit investigations, preparing and responding to subpoenas, deposing and defending witnesses, defending third parties, working with expert witnesses, arguing at hearings, and attending trial. Mr. Nakhleh has litigated with a wide range of technologies other than pharmaceuticals and chemicals, including medical devices, electronic devices, mechanical devices, and software. He has also litigated false advertising claims under the Lanham Act.

In addition to his litigation experience, Mr. Nakhleh has previously conducted freedom to operate searches, prosecuted patent applications, prepared requests for reexamination in the financial and telecommunications industries, performed due diligence of patents and patent applications, analyzed drug exclusivity issues and co-drafted a Citizen Petition for the US Food and Drug Administration, and prepared and filed letters at the National Advertising Division (NAD) of the Better Business Bureau. 

Mr. Nakhleh has also represented pro bono clients and appeared before several judges at the DC Superior Court in housing matters.

Prior to joining Steptoe, Mr. Nakhleh practiced law at a prominent law firm where he focused on intellectual property litigation and counseling.

Mr. Nakhleh had also worked for eight years with aerospace batteries for communications satellites at COMSAT Laboratories in Clarksburg, Maryland.
