Christian A. Ortego is an associate in the Washington office of Steptoe & Johnson LLP, where he is a member of the Litigation Department.
Prior to joining Steptoe, Mr. Ortego was a trial attorney in the Attorney General’s Honors Program at the United States Department of Justice, where he served in the Voting Section of the Civil Rights Division. While at the Justice Department, Mr. Ortego conducted both litigation and investigations of civil rights claims against public entities.
Mr. Ortego is a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Naval Reserve. Upon graduating from Louisiana State University, he attended Officer Candidate School, was commissioned an officer and then served two tours as a Surface Warfare Officer from 1996–2000 onboard the USS Doyle (FFG 39) and USS Gettysburg (CG 64).
