Christopher Bjornson is an associate in the Washington office of Steptoe & Johnson LLP, where he is a member of the Technology Department.
Mr. Bjornson represents domestic and foreign telecommunications clients, who provide international and domestic satellite, telephone, wireless telecommunications, and video programming services, before the Federal Communications Commission and other government agencies. Mr. Bjornson has extensive experience in satellite licensing, rulemaking, and transactional proceedings. His expertise helped one of his clients obtain the first license issued by the FCC under its first-come, first-served licensing rules in 2003.
Mr. Bjornson also has prepared comments in numerous FCC rulemaking proceedings on behalf of Direct Broadcast Satellite (“DBS”) providers, satellite operators, Internet service providers, cable operators, video programmers, and terrestrial wireless carriers on a wide variety of issues affecting the telecommunications industry. Some of those issues include interference protection standards, video programming regulation, spectrum allocation and service rules, and mergers and acquisitions.
