Henry Chen is an associate in the Beijing office of Steptoe & Johnson LLP, where he is a member of the International Department.
Mr. Chen has extensive experience in a wide variety of corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and private equity financings, foreign direct investment, and represented Chinese clients in connection with their public offerings in the US market. Mr. Chen also advised US insurers extensively on market entry and on compliance with Chinese insurance laws. Mr. Chen has experience in drafting various types of commercial contracts in both English and Chinese.
On the regulatory compliance side, Mr. Chen assisted companies in complying with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and related anti-corruption laws. He has experience conducting complex internal investigations in a variety of industries and providing FCPA training for senior management. He also advised on Chinese employment law matters.
Before relocating to Beijing, Mr. Chen worked at the firm’s Washington DC office. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Chen served as a legal consultant in a leading international law firm in China for over four years. Mr. Chen earned his LL.M. degree in corporate law from the New York University School of Law, where he was named a Dean’s Scholar and was awarded a scholarship. Prior to that he studied at the Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade School of Law and earned a Master and a Bachelor of Laws degrees, with honors.
