P. Bruce Converse is the deputy managing partner in the Phoenix office of Steptoe & Johnson LLP, where he is a member of the Litigation Department and Intellectual Property group. He has a broad range of experience in commercial litigation at both trial and appellate levels.
Insurance Bad Faith Litigation
Mr. Converse presently focuses his practice on the defense of insurance bad-faith claims arising in a variety of contexts.
Complex Commercial Litigation
Mr. Converse has extensive experience in the litigation of complex commercial litigation, including contract claims, class actions, antitrust and trade regulation disputes, debtor-creditor relations, and bankruptcy-related litigation.
Intellectual Property and Licensing
Mr. Converse has substantial experience in the litigation of a number of types of intellectual property disputes, including patent, trademark, and copyright infringement litigation; protection of trade secret; and confidential business information. In addition to litigation, Mr. Converse has represented numerous clients in the negotiation and documentation of all types of technology licensing.
Other Matters
Mr. Converse has represented various public entities in a wide range of circumstances, including funding disputes, litigation involving alleged conflict of interest, annexation, and condemnation actions. Mr. Converse also represents private parties in dealing with public entities, including negotiation of software development agreements and zoning issues. Mr. Converse has represented other attorneys in disciplinary proceedings before state bar associations, and maintains an active interest in issues relating to legal ethics and firm administration. Mr. Converse has spoken at various professional seminars and has written two articles on law practice management and development for the Arizona Attorney.
