Alfred Mamlet, Steptoe's Vice Chair, provides value-added strategic advice to telecommunications and other technology companies on regulatory, transactional, and litigation matters. For more than 20 years, Alfred has specialized in the remote telecommunications industry, representing satellite operators and leading service providers on their most important matters.
Alfred's transactional matters include more than 20 M&A transactions, joint ventures, licensing arrangements, and distribution and other complex commercial agreements.
Alfred's recent litigation matters including prevailing and collecting more than $50 million in an ICDR arbitration for Inmarsat in a commercial dispute, and a jury trial victory for Artel obtaining punitive damages and attorneys' fees.

Litigation Experience
- Lead counsel for Inmarsat, securing an Interim Award and settlement of more than $50 million in ICDR arbitration in contract dispute.
- Lead counsel in jury trial victory in GTT v. ARTEL(VA), defeating all 29 of plaintiff’s claims, prevailed on fraud and contract counterclaims with multimillion dollar verdict, awarded punitive damages and 95% of requested attorney's fees.
- Lead counsel for multiple satellite service providers in LCIA arbitration, prevailing after evidentiary hearing and securing attorney's fees.
- Represented Thales in multiple successful patent litigation matters.
- Prevailed on motion to dismiss in GTT v. CMC(E.D. VA).
- Obtained favorable settlement of patent litigation for Inmarsat in Advanced Media Networks v. Inmarsat, et. al.(S.D. NY).
- Represented VeriSign in litigation against Qwest over SS7 charges in eight states, designing a favorable settlement that covered more than 50 different parties.
- Defeated a preliminary injunction motion in a trade secrets case, following evidentiary hearing, in StarTrak v. Satamatics Ltd., et al.(D. NJ).
- Resolved copyright litigation through prompt and favorable settlement for Stratos in Stratos v. Telenor(D. MD).
- Represented Xwave in a software trade secrets matter, resolved through nominal settlement in SundRy v. Xwaveof New England (E.D. VA).
