Overview
Steve Barber focuses on high-stakes commercial, mass tort, and intellectual property litigation. He has substantial jury and bench trial experience, successfully trying cutting-edge contract, toxic tort, mass tort, patent infringement, and trademark infringement cases, including Section 337 cases at the International Trade Commission (ITC). Clients rely on Steve for his experience in class action litigation, FCPA matters, breach-of-contract suits, and fraudulent conveyance cases. He also serves as national trial and coordinating counsel for a Fortune 50 corporation litigating concealment, conspiracy, and other tort claims arising out of the company’s historic investigative efforts, research, and publications on various industrial chemicals.
Steve has taken cases to trial and supervised thousands of pleadings, motions, discovery activities, and pretrial filings. Through an aggressive dispositive motions practice and trial, he and the Steptoe team prevailed in hundreds of cases in some of the most challenging jurisdictions in the United States.
Steve has also tried IP cases in federal district court and Section 337 investigations before the ITC. He handles multidistrict patent infringement litigation, as well as patent infringement cases in "rocket dockets" such as the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas and the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
