International Law Advisory - Regarding the renewal of sanctions against Burma (Myanmar)

This memorandum serves as an update to our advisory, dated  June 30, 2004, regarding the renewal of sanctions against  Burma (Myanmar).  On July 7,  President  Bush signed into law Joint Resolution 97, effectively extending Burmese import restrictions for one year.  The resolution does not alter the scope of the sanctions imposed in 2003 by the Burmese Freedom and Democracy Act and related Executive Order 13310.
