House Passes Legislation Repealing Medicare Sustainable Growth Rate: The House of Representatives passed H.R. 2 earlier today by a vote of 397-37. Among other things, the bill would establish a new formula for paying physicians and would repeal the Medicare sustainable growth rate currently used to calculate annual physician payment increases. The bill also includes a provision to raise the amount that the IRS can recover from service providers that are delinquent with income tax payments, and reauthorizes the Children’s Health Insurance Plan for two years. House Ways and Means Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI) issued a statement praising the bill, stating that it will “give doctors the certainty they need and seniors the security they deserve.”
