On April 20, IRS Commissioner Doug Shulman announced the selection of Sarah Hall Ingram as commissioner of the Tax Exempt and Government Entities (TE/GE) Division, which oversees the administration of tax law relating to employee plans, tax-exempt organizations and various government entities.
Ingram, who has served as chief of Appeals for the past three years, will replace Steven T. Miller as TE/GE commissioner.  Miller will become the commissioner of the Large and Mid-Size Business Division (LMSB) which oversees businesses with assets of more than $10 million.

Ingram has broad experience at the IRS and in the TE/GE Division.  She served as deputy commissioner of the TE/GE Division from 2004 to 2006. Prior to that, she was division counsel/associate chief counsel for TE/GE, where she was responsible for providing legal services to TE/GE as well as other parts of the IRS. Ingram began her career with the IRS in the former Tax Litigation Division in 1982 and held a number of positions related to employee benefits and exempt organizations in the 1980s and 1990s.
